For those in the craft fair circuit, we are super excited to announce that Square, a mobile payment system for small businesses, has officially launched in Canada! The small square shaped device attaches to the top of your smart phone / iPad (iOS + Android) transforming it into a POS (point of sale) system.

    This is awesome! I’ve also been waiting years for them to come to Canada. But when you try to register to get the card reader sent to you, their system will only accept US addresses.

    Have emailed their support to see what’s up, but at the moment, it’s still not working for Canadians.

    I love Square. We used it for book sales at conferences and expos. It’s very easy to use, but it is kind of finicky. You have to have the device pointing the exact right way and you have to swipe the card the exact right way. Best part of it, though? It emails the receipts! I loved not having to hassle with those.
