alt summit :: back to school

via etsy happy dappy bits

I was following Alt Summit via twitter this year and have decided that I really want to attend the event in the new year. Of course, as I write this, a level of fear and anxiety of feeling “not quite at that level” is creeping in with a mixture of excitement -Eek!

Never compare your beginning to someone else’s middle” – Jon Acuff via @erinloechner.

For those unable to attend, the organizers have set up Alt Channel and for only $15.00, you can learn the tricks of the trade from your favourite bloggers and creatives. I have already taken quite a few sessions including:

Getting Started with Advertising for Bloggers with Liz Stanley
Tips & Tricks to Make Your Site Spectacular with Laurie Smithwick
Understanding Analytics with Nicole Balch

photo credit: Kelli Anderson, Alex Profit, and Yan Photo

Some of the class times are a bit tough to attend as I’m working a day job right now, but if you can swing it, I highly recommend registering. You can check out the available sessions here. Each session is approx. 60 minutes long, and the best part is that they are delivered via video and online chat which is perfect for me as I can be quite an introvert and will find any excuse to work in my pajamas!

field trip :: #blognic

Yesterday was spent at Regent’s Park celebrating #blognic (a picnic for bloggers). The weather cooperated and we met so many lovely London bloggers! We even dug out the message in a cookie kit and wowed everybody with our “I heart blognic” biscuits. They were such a big hit that we won a bottle of champagne for best item on the shared table!

Thanks so much to Ellie and Lynne for organizing. Can’t wait until the next event! Check out some more blog posts + biscuit love here, here and here.
