one month and two weeks

LondonFieldsShoppe-1monthWe’ve been living the shop life for almost one month and two weeks! It has been great meeting all of the new faces from around the neighbourhood including those that have seeked us out after seeing us on instagram, and of course, to all the family and friends that have stopped by. I was just telling Robert how great it is to be back in this area. When I was young, my grandma used to take tai chi classes at Ray Cam. My mom and two aunts would then come down to meet us before heading into Chinatown for our weekly shopping or to Pink Pearl for dim sum, so it’s been great walking up and down the streets rediscovering familiar gems. I’m pretty much on a mission to try all of the cold HK milk teas Chinatown has to offer. So far, hi-5 to The Boss Bakery. Bonus points for crushed ice and for thinking our baby is the cutest – ha!

We’ve been adding new things to the shop on an on-going basis and we’ve been busy moving things around. I’m expecting a new shipment of dickybird from the UK, so a lot of cuteness will be hitting the shelves soon! Our workshop series has also launched with a brush lettering workshop by Big Top Sign Arts on Saturday, April 18th (workshop on April 11th is sold out) with new workshops coming in May and June.

In other news, I made this super easy pork belly with crackling and to balance all the meat, this delicious swiss chard lasagna with ricotta and mushrooms. Oh, and I’m done with shoes that hurt my feet. Yeah, that was random. Any advice on cute flats that fit well?

London Fields Shoppe Pop-Up 2.0 + Thank You!

photoTHANK YOU to all of you for another amazing show! I know that we say this after every event, but really, last weekend was truly special. After moving from the Royal Canadian Legion to the Croatian Cultural Centre to the Maritime Labour Centre (and Templeton Secondary due to the fire), we finally feel at home and it was good to see so many familiar faces and to meet new friends! To those lucky early birds, the line up for swag bags started just after 6am on both days and the last one was snatched up around 7:30am. Yeah, I told you they were * that * good!

LFSpopupFor those of you still needing to finish (or start?) your holiday shopping, we’ll be popping up at Les Amis du Fromage as we patiently wait for our final piece of paperwork from City Hall for our permanent brick and mortar space to be finally opened. We’ll be setting up shop at the “cheese place” once again with a fine selection of our favourite items including Mellifera Bees, Herbivore Botanicals, Olive Soap, Falconware, think & ink studio, Merchant and Mills, Archie’s Press, the leather satchel co, and so much more!

POP-UP in the POP-UP! From Friday, December 19th to Sunday, December 21st, Rogue Florist will be bringing some of her beautiful floral arrangements and wreaths. These will add a festive touch to your home and also make great host / hostess gifts! If you missed out at Got Craft? last weekend, you will want to make sure to pick one up!

We’re also the only shop in Vancouver to be carrying the exclusive Strathcona t-shirts hand printed by local designers, Locomotive Clothing and to be stocking danish homeware line, Rice DK! Plus, there’s CHEESE, so it’s win-win.

things to do :: forest and waves pop-up

Forest-and-Waves-Pop-UpGot Craft? vendor, Edward Juan from Forest and Waves will be taking over the Chinatown Experiment this week with his very first pop-up retail store! Ed first contacted me last year when he was relocating from the US to Vancouver and I remember instantly falling in love with his work. As an avid surfer, and with him completing the NYC marathon last Sunday, it is no surprise that the store will be specializing in outdoor inspired goods – hence the name, Forest and Waves.

Along with his locally designed line of paper goods and tea towels, he will also carry a selection of clothing, home decor from Pigeon Toe Ceramics and LandonDix, skate boards from local designer Would Boards, and fabric pouches from Roxypop. I’ll be behind the counter giving Edward a helping hand, so stop by and say hello!

I have been fluttering here and there trying to decide where this blog was headed or even to keep it going. Last Tuesday, marked my 2 month “summer leave” and although, I thought about the blog often, it has been an amazing feeling to just shut down the computer and walk away. I feel that my priorities have shifted in the best of ways. I am savouring this time… going on adventures… experiencing life. I needed some time to clear my head and find my inspiration and I’m happy to announce that I’m back and kicking things off with a field trip over to the Delish General Store!

Delish General Store is a mom and pop (online-until-now) shop that celebrates the revival of the handmade and home grown, extol the virtues of getting your hands dirty, and the pioneering spirit. They carry hard-to-find, “didn’t-know-I-needed-this-until-I-found-it”, hip, handy and heritage-inspired products. Always a HUGE hit at Got Craft?, Delish General Store has taken over the Chinatown Experiment store front this weekend to host their first pop-up!

hello Sunday!

the everyday 1the everyday collageI was planning on spending the long weekend making a huge dent on our to-do list. However, the last few days in Vancouver have been filled with sunshine and warm weather. So instead of working away on our computers, we’ve been enjoying icy beverages, open windows and skirts with bare legs and open toe sandals! Dare I say, that SUMMERRRRR is almost here!?

Looking back at my instagrams, we sure saw a lot of the city this past week! We finally made it to the Pie Shoppe and Harvest to visit friends and of course, to eat pie! We skated shuffled at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Arena for a media event, went for daily walks in our neighbourhood, shopped at the Vancouver Farmers Market, drank flat whites at Nelson the Seagull, read the most recent issue of Gather, and enjoyed hot pot with friends.

How was your Easter? Hope everybody had a chance to enjoy some warm weather and soak in some sun!
