In his class, John discusses brush lettering in general and specifically the BullNose letter style, one of the most basic of hand painted styles. Consisting of 6 basic strokes, John will teach you how to create both upper and lower case letters as well as proper brush handling, brushcare, and the types of paints used. The first half of the hands-on workshop will cover the above, along with getting your brushes into the paint and practicing the 6 basic strokes. While the second half will move into letters and finish up with the creation of a few pieces to take home. “The Swoop” will also be discussed, demonstrated, and if time allows, be put to use in the finished pieces.

District Dogs Designs is a small letterpress studio located in North Vancouver, BC that create hand drawn images and hand carve them into linoleum blocks which are printed on hand-cut paper using a century old, extraordinarily heavy (2300lbs!) Chandler & Price platen press.
What is letterpress? Letterpress is AWESOME! Jarin and Catherine use grand industrial age equipment, capable of reproducing fine images with a striking impression. The characteristics of letterpress are unmatched in digital printing. It shows depth, plays with light, and has wondrous tactile qualities.

About Social Yoga… As a Type-A ‘first time yoga class hater’ who had a serious case of the “can’t sit stills”, Anita is now on a mission to bring this ancient practice down to (modern day) earth. Anita has her B’Sc and has studied multiple types of movement ranging from Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) to Pilates, and of course, Yoga. She has participated in yoga trainings in Vancouver, BC and in Melbourne, AUS with Amy Ippoliti.
By weaving her experience as a teacher, facilitator, and real life experience of the power of yoga and meditation, Anita keeps Social Yoga classes intentional, in a light-hearted way.
