DIY at Got Craft? with Spool of Thread

spoolofthread_spring_2014Familiar faces from the Spool of Thread sewing lounge will be at the upcoming Got Craft? on Saturday, May 10th and Sunday, May 11th, 2014 teaching you how to make your own bow pins. Super cute right?! Bow ties make a great accessory to pin on your jacket or as a last minute Mother’s Day gift – hooray!

Spool of Thread‘s free DIY table has all the supplies and tools needed to make a Bow Pin. They’ll even bring pins so that you can wear your creation right away! The best part of the day is watching everyone match their favourite printed cotton to felt, each colour combination tested with each person coming up with their own spin on the project.

The bow would also be darling as a hair accessory or as a special topper for a gift!

shop local :: Spool of Thread

Spool of Thread sewing lounge is tucked into one of my favourite spots in Vancouver along East 15th Avenue between Kingsway and Fraser. One part retail shop, Spool of Thread carries (in my opinion) one of the best selections of modern fabrics and patterns for all your sewing projects. They also host a number of workshops from beginning sewing lessons to more advanced techniques as well as offering people an opportunity to drop in with their own projects and rent their machines by the hour. People always ask me where I find the fabrics for my fabric pouches and this is the place folks!

I first met Lili when we were members of the Vancouver Craft Mafia and they have been a highlight at Got Craft? since May 2010 hosting the DIY space at the show. We are excited to have them back at our next event and look forward to seeing what new project they will be sharing with all of our attendees!

Make a day of it by enjoying a coffee at Matchstick and carrying on down the block to Collage Collage and Precious + Few.

got craft? vancouver applications

I’m super excited that the next Got Craft? Vancouver is coming up on Sunday, May 6th, 2012 at the Royal Canadian Legion from 10-5pm! For those that have attended past events, you know that it isn’t a typical craft fair. Spool of Thread sewing lounge will be back to host the DIY lounge, DJ Duff will be there to spin some crafty beats, and there will be lots of tasty treats to satisfy your sweet and savoury cravings! Robert and I (along with our jury members) also work hard to curate a list of vendors to showcase some of the best indie craft from the Lower Mainland (and beyond!).

Applications are due on Thursday, March 1st, so if you are interested in being a vendor at the event, please fill in an application here. If you are new to the event, please take a look at our flickr, website and vendor page to get a good feel of the event and the type of products / vendors that participate. Hope to see you there! x
