new item :: vintage finds

LFSCollageLFSPaperOrnamentsHere’s a quick sneak peek on some of the vintage finds that we brought into the shop this week! Two of my biggest weaknesses are vintage Christmas ornaments and vintage children’s illustrations, so I’m surprised that these are even making it to the shop – HA!

clockwise:

A complete set of The Wonderful Worlds of Walt Disney hardcover books – Stories From Other Lands, America, Worlds of Nature, and FantasyLand. Printed by Golden Press in 1965 and in good condition with very minor wear and tear.

Vintage Animal Fun Letter and Object Matching Game and Vintage ABC Push-Out Toy Cards – Two complete children’s games from 1954 / 1955 that are in great condition with almost no visible wear and tear. Would make a fantastic decor piece in a children’s room or as a gift for somebody fond of vintage illustrations!

Paper Vintage Christmas Ornaments! These are probably one of my most favourite items in the shop right now! From an estate of a past window dresser of Eaton’s, these ornaments are absolutely amazing. Sold as a set of 6 (in its original box).

Additional images available upon request. Contact us here for more details or stop by the shop! (Ornaments are available at the shop, but won’t be on display until closer to the holiday season!)

The Art of Food and Prop Styling with the Artful Desperado

LFSFoodPropStylingThe Artful Desperado returns to London Fields Shoppe this September with a new workshop, The Art of Food and Prop Styling! This was one of our most popular workshops last spring and we sold out so quickly that the second date filled before we could properly announce it! We listened to your feedback from the first class and slightly tweaked the course content to focus on styling, rather than photography. We extended the length of the session and decreased the number of students, so space is * very * limited.

Two dates available:
Saturday, September 12th or Saturday, September 19th, 2015
10:00 am to 2:30 pm
London Fields Shoppe – 692 East Hastings Street, Vancouver (BC)

Cost: $250.00 plus tax | max. 8 students

To see the full course content including registration, click here.

note: Workshops are a final sale and are non-refundable. Class dates / times are non-transferable.

London Fields Shoppe :: Workshops!

Workshops1Workshop2

We’re starting to roll out our Fall / Winter workshop schedule! I’ll be sharing more details about each course on the blog in the coming weeks. Many of these sessions sold out super quick during our last offering, so I recommend that you grab a seat now to avoid any disappointment. We’re still working on a few new weeknight events as well, so stay tuned!

Strathcona Community Tees + Totes

StrathconaCommunityTeesStrathcona has always been in our hearts. My relatives moved into a row home, which is still in the family, near Union Street in the 1920s. My grandma used to take tai chi classes at the Ray Cam Community Centre every Saturday and we would meet the rest of the family there before having dim sum at Pink Pearl or lunch somewhere in Chinatown. I used to walk down to Kenny’s convienence store on East Hastings with my aunt for penny candies and if I didn’t like his selection, we would walk half a block further to Penny’s conveience store. We bought our weekly groceries at Sunrise Market, Rice World, Double Happiness, New Town Bakery, and have been going to the recently destroyed, Daisy Garden, for as long as I can remember. I took my first piano and ballet classes at the Strathcona Community Centre, attended family weddings at Strathcona Church, and most recently, celebrated our son’s first birthday at MacLean Park.

When we set out to find a location for London Fields Shoppe, we never thought we would be in the Heatley Block, but we are super proud to be back in Strathcona and for the opportunity to rediscover new gems and past haunts. We were actually so excited that we asked our friends, Locomotive Clothing, to hand print and design a neighbourhood specific t-shirt. Aren’t they amazing? We have also collaborated with Locomotive Clothing to print the cotton totes shown above with 100% proceeds to the Strathcona Community Centre Association. Shirts are available in various sizes including baby, child, youth, men, and women. Show your neighbourhood pride and find both of these items in-store or online here.

For other neighbourhood love, check out The Pleasant Shop (Mount Pleasant), Brick & Mortar Living (New Westminster), Gatley (Commercial Drive), Stepback (Kitsilano), and Spruce Collective (Fraser Valley).
