craft fair application session continued…

topic: product descriptions
On the Got Craft? craft fair application, we ask for a max. 100 word description of to describe the items that you will be selling if accepted. We also make a note that if you are accepted, this description will be used on our website. Then why do I still receive submissions that say “Pretty things handmade with love”. Huh? That doesn’t tell me that you make zipper pouches using a selection of kawaii Japanese and thrifted fabrics.

Just because you are a returning vendor, doesn’t mean that you are automatically accepted. We don’t have a specific percentage of new vs. old vendors that we can provide you, but we do want to make sure that our shoppers experience a new shopping adventure each time they come to Got Craft. This means that if you are a returning vendor, make sure not to recycle your same application. We want to see what new things you are working on! Know the organizers well? Great. Be professional and don’t expect favours.

  • Be clear and concise
  • Spell check!
  • Make sure you understand the difference between an artist statement and a production description
  • Stuck on words? Talk about the process of making your products, the materials used, your product line, do you use recycled materials?

How you complete your application and the interactions you have with organizers is a reflection of your business. Your application should match what the organizers are looking for.
