We have some big news! We are closing our brick and mortar space at the end of this month and London Fields Shoppe will be moving online! You’ll be able to find us at several events and pop-ups this fall + holiday season and we will continue to offer free local pick up on online orders as well as more flexible pick up hours!
We’re super excited for what’s new. Our lease ends at the end of the month and with our little one starting kindergarten, the timing couldn’t be more perfect. E was born at the same time we opened our shop. We had a sofa and high chair set up at the back of the shop and would take turns rolling the stroller around the neighbourhood (we tracked a lot of steps!). I also grew up going to the Strathcona Community Centre every weekend with my grandma for Tai Chi. I remember watching the PNE parade go down the street in August, having dim sum at Pink Pearl, and going with my aunt to either Kenny’s or Penny’s convienence Store on East Hastings for one cent candies. My uncle’s side of the family lived around the corner from the Union Market and used to grow vegetables and flowers which they delivered and sold to local wholesalers. The picture above is of his grandfather taken on East Georgia in 1927.
So, what’s next?
London Fields Shoppe will continue to operate online and you can find us in person at various events and pop-ups throughout the year (see the list here). We have a bunch of new stock that arrived in the past week that we’re working on getting online and in-store and will be focusing on growing our online sales. You may have also noticed that our website recently changed and we’re working on getting that up and running including a revamped logo!
We will continue to produce Got Craft? as well as making goods under our handmade line, Roxypop, and Robert will carry on working in corporate events as he has for the past several years. On a personal note, we’re excited to have a more flexible schedule and to spend more time as a family. We’ll revisit the idea of a new location in the new year, but nothing is set in stone.
Thank you to each and every person that came in to the shop, that saw us at an event and pop-up, that made a purchase (small or large!), that liked a photo, that stopped me on the street to tell me that you follow me (!!), and to all of you for following along our journey. A big thank you as well to all of our consigners, our workshop instructors, and our amazing shop help! Our last day at the shop is Saturday, August 31st, 2019 and if you haven’t been following our instagram stories for sale items, you can find them as a highlight in our profile titled ‘SALE’. I plan to set up a newsletter schedule and post more frequently over here, but in the meantime, find us on instagram at @lfieldsshoppe for news + updates! If you have any questions about the brick + mortar or the shop in general, feel free to send us a DM or an email. Cheers to the future!
