The Artful Desperado returns to London Fields Shoppe this September with a new workshop, The Art of Food and Prop Styling! This was one of our most popular workshops last spring and we sold out so quickly that the second date filled before we could properly announce it! We listened to your feedback from the first class and slightly tweaked the course content to focus on styling, rather than photography. We extended the length of the session and decreased the number of students, so space is * very * limited.
Two dates available:
Saturday, September 12th or Saturday, September 19th, 2015
10:00 am to 2:30 pm London Fields Shoppe – 692 East Hastings Street, Vancouver (BC)
Cost: $250.00 plus tax | max. 8 students

Social Yoga is bringing their Sunday best to London Fields Shoppe starting at the end of this month! Social Yoga is not your everyday yoga class. Literally. They run weekly small-group classes using yoga as a tool for connection. Classes are held in unconventional places (like us!) where you get to know the people you’re with and you get to call the shots. No fancy frills or add ons, just a straight and original Social Yoga flow class followed by their signature post-yogs activities. Come discover what it looks like to be your best self amongst good company. Sunday best attire not required. We’ll get you stretching your mind and your body, as well as your social circle.

About Social Yoga… As a Type-A ‘first time yoga class hater’ who had a serious case of the “can’t sit stills”, Anita is now on a mission to bring this ancient practice down to (modern day) earth. Anita has her B’Sc and has studied multiple types of movement ranging from Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) to Pilates, and of course, Yoga. She has participated in yoga trainings in Vancouver, BC and in Melbourne, AUS with Amy Ippoliti.
By weaving her experience as a teacher, facilitator, and real life experience of the power of yoga and meditation, Anita keeps Social Yoga classes intentional, in a light-hearted way.
We knew that we wanted our shop windows to be hand painted after we watched John in his studio a few years ago in preparation for the Sign Painter movie premiere in Vancouver. Jeannette from The Beautiful Project created our logo design and we invited our friend Jeanie to come down and capture a few shots of John painting our windows. John had forgot to print a copy of the design we wanted for our door, so he laid out a fresh piece of paper on the table… he set up the computer screen next to him with the image that we wanted and he proceeded to draw it free hand. He then used that piece of paper to help him paint the signage on our door. This is when I had a true, “Oh, wow!” moment.
You can see more photos on our facebook album here.
Legendary sign painter, John Lennig from Big Top Sign Arts will be at the shop tomorrow painting our windows. We’re not officially open yet as we are still waiting on City Hall to process our final piece of paperwork, but for those eager beavers, this is a great time to watch John create his magic, take a sneak peek at the space, and to say hello!
