field trip :: columbia road flower market

I actually wrote this post a few weeks ago, but didn’t get around to posting it. Here are a few snapshots from our trip out to the Columbia Road Flower Market and the Sunday Upmarket. We had a few friends staying with us that weekend and they wanted an “off the tourist path” visit to London.

I really enjoy taking the tube to Aldgate East station and walking through Brick Lane, picking up some tasty treats at the food stalls and then walking straight through to the flower market. This route also means that we are lucky enough to stop by the Tatty Devine store and check out their rotating exhibits (Gemma Correll, Girls + Zines, etc.)!

It is the perfect walk on a sunny day and despite the crowds, a very pleasant trip filled with vintage finds (more pyrex!), food, sewing supplies and of course, some beautiful flowers!

the green vase

Fake flowers have received a bad rep in the past, but perhaps they haven’t seen these handmade paper beauties by The Green Vase will change your mind! Although they are a bit on the expensive side for those on a budget, these will last forever and would make a fantastic keepsake after your big day or event. Visit their shop here to view all of their hand crafted blooms.

i love :: rosegolden

It seems that I have given up on ever receiving a response from our landlord with permission to hang things on our walls (we have to get approval to paint and hang pictures in our rental flat in London). I mean, hello!? We have been here for almost 5 months already! Anyways, with more room then we have ever had back in Vancouver, I have been searching for some pretty pictures to decorate these walls.

I have been following Anabela of fieldguided and Erin of Alantic Treefox‘s tumblr site for quite some time now, so am excited to share with you some images from their newest collaboration – rosegolden. Large scale posters of flower photos with hand-painted gold leaf touches. Hope you like them as much as we do!
