london fields shoppe :: we’re hiring!

LFS-HiringHey folks! We’re getting * so * close to opening our doors at London Fields Shoppe! To prepare for the busy holiday season, we’re looking to hire a Retail Sales Clerk for our pop-up shop (more to come on that!) at Les Amis Du Fromage (845 East Hastings, Vancouver) from Tuesday, December 16th to Tuesday, December 23rd, 2014 as well as at our permanent brick and mortar space from Friday, December 12th to Sunday, December 14th, 2014.

The ideal candidate we’re looking for is friendly, honest, motivated, able to multi-task and takes initiative. We’re looking for somebody that is able to talk about the merchandise, be comfortable with sales, tidy up displays / restock, interact with customers, and process sales quickly and accurately. We carry a wide range of products, so will need somebody that is a quick learner and be able to familiarize themselves with our stock as well as understand the look and aesthetic of London Fields Shoppe. This is a paid position ($12/hr) with the opportunity of more work in the new year. Ideally, we would like one person to cover all dates, but can be flexible.

If you feel that that you would be a good fit, please email us at with a cover letter, resume, availability, and why you want to work with us. Only short listed applications will be contacted via email for an interview.

London Fields Shoppe :: an update {finally}!

LFS-1LFSLFS-1ALFS CollageWhere do I even start? Hmm… If you have been following us for awhile, you may have seen us announce our plans on opening up a brick and mortar shop. Well, after viewing the space in summer 2013, signing the lease last Fall and then setting an opening date of November 2013, we seem to have fallen into a black hole of construction delays, contractor woes and trouble shooting permits. It seemed like everybody kept telling us, oh, it will be ready next month and the next month become the Next month and that then became the NEXT month and over a year later, I’m happy to announce that we are closer than we have ever been. The walls have been freshly painted, the floors refinished, the original radiators cleaned, the lighting installed, new tiling has been placed, and shelving is being built. Our new shop and workshop space will open its doors in * fingers crossed * late October where we will feature an eclectic mix of everyday objects hand picked from around the globe. With an emphasis on handmade, I’ll be bringing in my favourite homewares, paper goods and stationery, edibles, prints, vintage, and other gift items – “We don’t buy for the masses”.

As it has taken us this long to get the retail portion of the shop set up, cake and coffee service will be postponed until the new year as that is a whole lightening bolt of paperwork on its own! In the meantime, I’m busy uploading all of our goods into our online shop and stay tuned for announcements on our opening date as well as upcoming workshops!

Looking forward to saying hello in person!

field trip :: nelson the seagull

A few years ago, I would have never thought to walk down Hastings and Carrall Street in Vancouver. Honestly, I probably wouldn’t even go past Dressew, but the City has changed. Holy moly, has it changed! One early morning walk later, we discovered fantastic eateries and shops such as Old Faithful Shop, Cartem’s Donuterie, Revolver Coffee, Meat and Bread, and Nelson the Seagull. And really, with a tagline of “Bread and Coffee”, did you expect anything else, but brilliant toast and flat whites? Yes! Flat whites!
