A quick jump across the border to pick up some packages became a whirlwind trip to Seattle, WA. On the agenda.. cookbooks, doughnuts, a touristy stroll through Pike Place Market, and a stop at International Village for a bag of my favourite roasted chestnuts!
Last week, Robert and I headed to Baltimore, MD for the Summit of Awesome (more on that later!). Knowing that we were going to be so close to Washington, D.C., we took an extra few days and made a day trip to “the District”. We only had about 10 hours, so we joined a hop on / hop off trolley tour and was literally running through the entire City seeing as much as we could possibly pack in. This was our first trip to Washington and it’s absolutely beautiful.
I have to admit, it was a very touristy visit, but due to our time limit, that was exactly what we were looking for. We saw the White House, Washington State Capitol, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Georgetown, National Cathedral, Arlington National Cemetery, Korean War Memorial, Embassy Row, Watergate Building… We only made it to the Air and Space Museum (the Wright Brothers’ plane) and the American History Museum (Julia Child’s kitchen), but the Smithsonian Museum’s alone are worth the trip!
Our next round of guests arrive on Sunday morning, the same time that we are leaving for Baltimore which is a little weird, as we won’t actually see each other! We have been busy bees prepping the house and working on oodles of good stuff…
